Measure Title: Reporting of Incidental Carotid Artery Calcification (ICAC) on CT Scans.

Measure description: This measure calculates the percentage of final reports for non-arterial CT of the neck region that document the presence or absence of incidental carotid artery calcification.

Denominator: All final reports for non-arterial CT scans of the neck, including C-Spine and Neck Soft Tissues performed on patients aged 18 and older.

Denominator Exceptions: None

Denominator Exclusions:

• Patients with known carotid artery disease.
• CT neck angiogram.

Denominator Criteria (Eligible Cases):

  • None

Numerator: The number of final reports within the denominator that include documentation of the presence or absence of carotid artery calcification.

Performance Met: Final reports for non-arterial CT of the neck region that explicitly document the presence or absence of carotid artery calcification.

Performance Not Met: Final reports for non-arterial CT of the neck region that DO NOT explicitly document the presence or absence of carotid artery calcification.
