Measure Title: Limiting use of Desflurane-Based Inhalation Anesthesia.

Measure description:This measure quantifies the use of desflurane during general inhalation anesthesia.

Denominator:

All patients who received a potent volatile anesthetic.

Denominator Note: All patients of any age undergoing inhalation-based general anesthesia with a potent volatile anesthetic, such as desflurane, sevoflurane, or isoflurane. Patients undergoing combined total-intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) and potent volatile inhalation anesthesia with desflurane, sevoflurane, or Isoflurane are also included. This measure applies to inhalational anesthesia used for both induction and maintenance.

Numerator Note: All patients of any age undergoing inhalation-based general anesthesia with desflurane and all patients undergoing combined total-intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) and inhalation-based general anesthesia with desflurane.

Performance Met: Patients who do not receive Desflurane

Performance Not Met: Patients who received Desflurane
